Driving lessons will only be conducted in line with government advice and governing bodies. Learners & Candidates should not take driving lesson and practical driving test if restriction apply to them. Further information available from the government website and your instructor.

 

 Privacy Policy

Gateway Driving School (Bridge Gateway Driving School (“us”, “we”, I,  or “our” ) operates the Driving School (the “Service”).

This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data. We use your data to provide and improve the Service.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy, terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, accessible from. Gateway Driving School.


Security of Data:


Gateway Driving School use websites that have the skill set and knowledge to make sure your data is encrypted and secure. We DO NOT use any data for marketing purposes. It is not passed to any third parties. With the exception of learning materials associated with training apps in the course of registration purpose only.

Introduction

 

Welcome, thank you for choosing Gateway Driver Training School. (Formally known as Bridge Gateway Driving School) We are a progressive forward thinking driving school with friendly professional driving instructors who have knowledge of all local test centres and test routes. Please be assured that all concerns are taken with the utmost diligence and discretion at all times assuring you of our best intentions.

 

 

Payments and Lesson Bookings

 

Lessons are referred to as Credits 1 Credit = 1 hour Driving Lesson

 

Customers are required to pay for tuition/Driving lessons in advance by using one of the following methods:

 

Payment by credit or debit card in car at the start of your lesson directly to your Instructor: Payment By cash, cheque (payable to your Instructor) with cheque guarantee card. On Line or app Payments may be arranged with the instructor. Balance transfer 1 day before lesson. 

By Valid Vouchers

(Vouchers and free credits for any value can only be used in part payment purchase of at least 1 full priced lesson of equal value and the remaining value may be used for further lessons purchases and Products. Free Credits can not be used as sole payment of tuition/lessons or products.

Vouchers from other Driving Schools or Retail can be used for obtaining part payment to Bridge Gateway driving lessons up to 1 free 1hr lesson providing that a free lesson has not been claimed with any other offer. Advanced learner who requires lessons less than 3 weeks from practical test date will be subject to the higher hourly rate and will not be eligible for free hours. Payment of lessons of 10 lessons or more must be used as a minimum of 1.5 hour lessons time slot and is at the discretion of the instructor if under 1.5 hours.

 

Price Changes

 

The Price of your lessons which have not been prepaid as part of a block booking may be changed at any time. You will always receive prior notice of such changes.

 

The cost of prepaid tuition is based on the lesson prices in force at the time of the booking and will be honored for 12 months thereafter irrespective of any price increase that may occur between the date of the booking and when the lessons are taken. Any unused lessons remaining after 12 months have elapsed shall have any lesson prices increased applied. If Block bookings have been purchased (from 6 hours prepaid) include a free lesson then it must be used by any use by date. Any lessons not taken after the used by date will not be honored

 

 

 Refunds and Transfers for lessons not Taken.

 

Lessons are referred to as Credits 1 Credit = 1 hour Driving Lesson.

 

Lessons paid for in advance shall be valid for 12 months from purchase date. Good will credits shall be valid for 30 days after last lesson or date refunded which ever is the later, Test credits shall be valid for 12 Months and may only be redeemed when a Practical driving test is booked. Credits can only be redeemed with a lesson of the same value. Good will credits are at the discretion of the instructor.

Lessons booked as part of a block booking driving course that remain in credit will not be credited back if the driving test is passed by the customer/candidate but may be used for further training if driving test failed.

Any lessons not used as part of a prepaid offer may be refunded back deducting the cost of lessons taken at the standard 1hour rate plus an administration charge of £15.00 if driving test is not passed. Any free credits will be void if a client terminates there training/Lessons or if the practical driving test is passed or no communication is received from the customer. Block bookings must be used within the start date training period consecutively based on the minimum lesson duration per week. Unused lessons balance may be refunded or resumed based on the current hourly rate. (See Communication & Customers Training Status Section) Refunds are paid approximately 30 days after request. You can not sell or transfer lessons which have been purchased in your name to any other person without our consent.

 

 

 

 

 

Lessons and Traffic

 

 

Please be aware that your driving instructor has no control over road conditions such as but not limited to; road works, traffic jams, road accidents, road closure plus many more etc... While your driving instructor has extensive knowledge of the local area s/he will not be held responsible for any delays that this may cause in over run lesson time (you will not be charged for the over run lessons) and/or lateness to appointments such as but not limited to your practical driving test. Tuition Vehicle and Practical Driving Test

 

Your driving instructor reserves the right to withhold the use of the driving instruction tuition vehicle for the candidate practical test if it is considered that the candidate is not at test standard. Please be aware that your driving instructor has a full diary of students and therefore you should always consult with your driving instructor before booking your practical driving test s/he will only be glad to advise you of their free times, if you fail to consult with your driving instructor they will not guarantee availability. Also please be aware that it is the candidate’s responsibility to take the required documentation to their practical driving test your driving instructor will not

Be held responsible if your test is cancelled due to missing documentation.

While every effort is made to maintain the vehicle of instruction to a high

standard your driving instructor will NOT be responsible for any mechanical or electrical faults that may happen before or during your practical driving test such as but not limited to BLOWN Reverse light bulb etc... You’re driving

instructor will not be held responsible if your test is cancelled due to such events.

 

Infringements

 

Please note that while your driving instructor is there to guide and instruct you they can not be held responsible for any speeding fines, infringement fines, etc... That are incurred due to none-conformation of instruction any such

infringements etc. Will be the sole responsibility of the candidate.

 

 

Fraud Prevention

 

Your lessons are only valid if they are purchased through Gateway Driver Training school or in accordance with the Payments and lesson Bookings section set out above

If your Lessons have been purchased through another source please contact us immediately on 0800 098 8055. In the event your lessons have not been purchased in accordance with the forgoing terms GDS reserve the right to suspend theses lessons in your account, with immediate effect. An investigation will be Conducted by GDS in order to check the validity of the purchase. Where the results of an investigation determine that the lessons are not valid they will not be provided to you and GDS shall have no liability in these Circumstances.

 

 

 

Fit and Legal

 

Please be aware if you are found to be unfit to drive due to such things as but not limited to; being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, not wearing prescription glasses, etc... Your driving instructor WILL refuse to take you on a driving lesson and you WILL be charged for any loss of revenue.

Liability

 

Your Instructor, GDT shall not be, in any event be liable for losses relating to you for any loss or damage caused where, and to the extent that:

There is no breach of legal duty owed to you by the relevant person or body;

Such loss or damage is not a reasonably foreseeable result of such a breach;

Any such loss or damage, or increases in the same result from any breach or omission by you

Any such loss or damage results from circumstances or matters outside of reasonable control of the relevant person or body.

 

Your Instructor, GDT shall not, in any event be liable for losses relating to any business interest you may have including, without limitation, profits, loss of opportunity or business or business interruption.

 

Personal conduct.

 

• The instructor will at all times behave in a professional manner towards

clients.

• Clients will be treated with respect and consideration.

• The instructor will try to avoid physical contact with a client except in

an emergency or in the normal course of greeting.

• Whilst reserving the right to decide against giving tuition, the instructor will not act in any way which contravenes legislation on discrimination.

 

Business dealings

 

• The instructor will safeguard and account for any monies paid in advance by the client in respect of driving lessons, test fees or for any other

purpose and will make the details available to the client on request.

• The instructor on or before the first lesson should provide clients with a

written copy of his/her terms of business to include:

- legal identity of the school/instructor with full address and telephone

number at which the instructor or his/her representative can be contacted

the price and duration of lessons

- the price and conditions for use of a driving school car for the

practical driving test

- the terms under which cancellation by either party may take place

- procedure for complaints.

 

• The instructor should check a client’s entitlement to drive the vehicle and

his or her ability to read a number plate at the statutory distance on the

first lesson. When presenting a client for the practical driving test the

instructor should ensure that the client has all the necessary documentation to enable the client to take the test and that the vehicle is roadworthy. Voluntary code of practice

 



Instructors will advise clients when to apply for their theory and practical

driving tests, taking account of local waiting times and forecast of clients’ potential for achieving the driving test pass standard. The instructor will not cancel or re-arrange a driving test without the client’s agreement. In the event of the instructor’s decision to withhold the use of the school car for the driving test. (see further details) The Client should give sufficient notice to avoid loss of the DVSA test fee.


Readiness for driving practical test and availability of the tuition vehicle. 


Cliant who have booked a practical driving test with the DVSA if also have booked the tuition car and instructor for practical test must have reached the required standard before the instructor can take a candidate in for test by the following means:


Have started practical mock testing a minimum of 6 weeks before the date of the test. (If the client has started with the school within the six week period then mock testing will be begin if applicable at the second lesson after the assessment lesson.)


Must pass 2 Mock test with less than 5 minor faults 1 working week before test.


Must be a level 5 (Independent) 1 working week before test.


Must be able to answer all Show and Tell Questions. 1 week before test.


If the instructor is still teaching 1 week before test the client is not ready.


If a client has not reached the required standard by the fore mentioned means your instructor will withhold the tuition vehicle and will be not be able to take the candidate for test. Your instructor will advise 1 working week before test and no later than 48 hrs before test.

Your instructor will not be liable for withholding the tuition vehicle providing prior notice is given. 

Your right to take the test is not effected by your instructor withholding the tuition vehicle you can still take the test in another vehicle with a willing accompanying qualified driver.


The instructor should at all times, to the best of his or her ability, endeavor to teach the client correct driving skills according to DVSA’s recommended syllabus

 

Advertising

 

• The advertising of driving tuition shall be honest; claims made shall be

capable of verification and comply with codes of practice set down by the

 

Advertising Standards Authority.

 

• Advertising that refers to clients’ pass rates should not be open to

misinterpretation and the basis on which the calculation is made should be

made clear.

Conciliation

 

• Complaints by clients should be made in the first instance to the driving

instructor/driving school/contractor following the complaints procedure

issued.

• Failing agreement or settlement of a dispute, reference may be made to

DVSA’s Registrar of Approved Driving Instructors who will consider the

matter and advise accordingly.

• Should the Registrar not be able to settle the dispute he or she may set up

a panel, with representatives from the ADI industry, to consider the matter

further or advise that the matter should be referred to the courts or other

statutory body to be determined.

 

Competition & Promotions

 

Winners of competitions will only be paid out in voucher format no cash alternative available. Lesson vouches and free credits are only redeemable for part payment of lessons, shopping vouchers are subject to the terms and conditions on the voucher, all vouchers are transferable to another person. Driving lesson vouchers can only be use once per customer for the offer stated on the voucher and can not be used in conjunction with any other offer. Any free lessons obtained can only be used in conjunction when a regular paid hour is purchased. Discounted Lessons and some promotions are not available to customers whose training will take place over 15 miles distances from WA7 Post code or 5 Miles on low start deals. If Customer terminates there training any free lessons will be void, if taken then will be billed to customer. Lesson voucher redeemers must have a valid driving licence to take driving lessons.

 

Free Credits Vouchers & Payment Voucher

(Vouchers look the same but will have codes and may have signature of your Instructor.)

Code: FPC = Free Pay Credit (part payment voucher)

     INTRO/FIRST= (Voucher only for first Lesson with Signature or Instructor)

     FPV= (Fully Paid Voucher with signature of instructor)

      GWV = (Good Will Voucher with signature of instructor.)

Your Instructor will hold records of lessons paid for vouchers hold no value and may not be accepted if no record or receipt of payment is produced.

 

Important! Free Credits are commitment credits please do not use if you're not intending to complete your course or thinking of leaving the school. Payment Vouchers are for lessons paid for in advance and will be issued with you driving instructor’s signature. Customers will not be charged for commitment credits after 10 full priced lessons have been paid for and used if training is terminated.

May only be used once and not in conjunction with other offers.

 

Any free credits awarded by GDS may be used in the following ways:

 

1 Credit worth 1 hour lesson, monitory value (£0.01) (No refunds on free credits) redeemed only to the presenting GDS Instructor

For use of part payment of equal value of Driving Tuition Only. (Example 2 hour lesson cost £20 using 1 free credit)

For use of part payment for driving test day tuition (Not Car hire) lesson

For a short notice cancellation under 48hr notice

Not as a substitute for full payment

Free credits void or billed (if used) if training/lessons are terminated by customer.

May not be transfer to another client.

Used within the training period. (Training Period is from first lesson to Test Day, Block booking purchase course or Termination of lessons by Customer) GDS Reserve the right to withdraw this offer without notice. Your statutory rights are not affected.

 

Communication & Customers Training Status is logged as Follows.

 

1.Pupil/Lessons Active (Communication & Training ongoing)

2.Lessons Temporally inactive 7 Days (communication Required within 7 Days)

3.Lessons Temporally inactive 14 Days (communication Required within 14 Days)

4.Lessons Temporally inactive 30 Days (communication Required within 30 Days)

5.Training Postponed Until Further Notice 6 Months (communication Required within 6 Months)

6.Training Terminated ( No Further Contact Pupils remove)

 

Confirmation/Communication will be sent via SMS, email or post.

Pupils/Customers/Clients. Training status will be logged as listed and are required to contact GDT, instructor or reply to your instructor (When He or She contacts) if your lessons are inactive. Inactivity time will be agreed at the previous lesson. Pupils who do not contact there instructor will be subject to the terms and conditions of this agreement.

 

Cancellation:


Students are reminded that YOU MUST GIVE ADEQUATE NOTICE for cancelling driving lessons or training. Your driving instructor will require a MINIMUM of 48 HOURS NOTICE if you are unable to attend your appointment or REDUCE the quantity of hours booked, you will be charged for any loss of revenue. This also includes not turning up for a pre arranged lesson. However you’re driving Instructor would appreciate you honoring appointment times and any cancellation being your only alternative. Refunds or credits may be given to pupils on an evaluation process where genuine circumstances can be determined and is at the discretion of your instructor Do not hesitate to contact us at any time, your driving instructor will be most understanding and happy to reschedule your driving lesson at no extra cost, if with in the same working week and subject to availability of lessons slots. If your instructor cancels: Except where the tuition vehicle is unavailable through break down or service schedule problems your instructor will add grace to any cancellations students make following instructor cancellation and in some cases free hours may be added to a students account.

(See Communication & Customers Training Status Section) If a Client Terminates training and leaves the school any free credits awarded remain, will be lost.

Nothing in theses terms and Conditions will affect any statutory rights you may have as a customer.


Law applying to terms and Conditions


These terms and conditions are governed by law of England and Wales and you are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of English Courts.



By Taking Lessons or purchasing products and service you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

Agreement to theses Terms and Conditions can be confirmed by accepting on any driving school applications past or currently in use.
